9. Simulium (Gomphostilbia) tanahrataense Takaoka, Sofian-Azirun & Ya’cob, 2014
Simulium (Gomphostilbia) tanahrataense: Takaoka et al., 2014f: 61 –63 (Male and pupa).
This species was described from two males reared from pupae (Takaoka et al., 2014f). Its female and larva are unknown. The male of S. (G.) tanahrataense is similar to those of S. (G.) sofiani and S. (G.) lurauense in having a similar number of enlarged upper-eye facets, a dark scutum without longitudinal vittae and a similar shape of the ventral plate, but is clearly distinguished from the latter two species by the bicolored, much widened hind basitarsus.
The pupae were collected from a small stream at high elevation (1,470 m) in Cameron Highlands.
