6. Simulium (Gomphostilbia) lurauense Takaoka, Sofian-Azirun & Hashim, 2011

Simulium (Gomphostilbia) lurauense Takaoka et al., 2011b: 63 –71 (Female, male, pupa and larva).

This species was described from females, males, pupae and larvae (Takaoka et al., 2011b). It is characterized in the female by the elongate sensory vesicle, in the male by the number of upper-eye facets (14 or 15 vertical columns and 14 or 15 horizontal rows), the spindle-shaped hind basitarsus, which is clearly narrower than the hind tibia and nearly entirely darkened, and in the pupa by the small terminal hooks.

The pupae and larvae were collected from small streams at low to medium elevations (224–737 m) in Cameron Highlands and also at low to medium elevations in other areas of the mainland of Peninsular Malaysia (Ya’cob et al., 2016a, b).
