Distribution. China: Gansu (Kaszab, 1940; Egorov, 2008).

Remarks. This species was described based on three specimens (‘Coll. SCHUSTER 1♂, 1♀; Coll. FREY 1♂ ’) from Gansu and Shanxi, China, and the type specimens were deposited in ‘Coll. G. FREY, München (♂, ♀)’ in the original description.

A male syntype from Shanxi deposited in HNHM was studied by first author, its elytral surface is without thick setae, which is not match with the original description. In addition, it has punctures on elytra, which is not mentioned in the original description. Therefore, it was not the specimen used to describe this species at that time. In fact, it should be identified as P. gebieni Schuster, 1915 after examination. In this paper, 24 specimens from Gansu deposited in MHBU were examined, they were fully match with the original description. Thus, Gansu should be the type locality of this species. In this case, perhaps one of the two syntypes deposited in ‘Coll. G. FREY, München’ would be designated as the lectotype in the future. Meanwhile, the male syntype from Shanxi deposited in HNHM should be moved to P. gebieni Schuster, 1915 .
