Torodora hiarakella (Viette, 1988), comb. nov.

(Figs. 8 A–E)

Lecithocera hiarakella Viette, 1988: 103 . TL: Antongil Bay, Hiaraka.

Type. 1♂ (holotype), East Madagascar, Antongil Bay, Masoala Peninsula, Hiaraka, 1000 m, 18-21 x 1968, P. Griveaud, A. Peyrieras & P. Viette leg.; Lecithocera hiarakella n. sp., Holotype ♀, P. Viette; genitalia: prep. P. Viette no. 5755.

Adult (Figs. 8A, B). Wingspan, 20 mm. The forewing pattern of this species is similar to Torodora ankasokella (Viette, 1968), with an orange-white band along costa, but it can be distinguished from the latter by the costal band with nearly straight lower margin, whereas in the latter, the lower margin triangularly produced twice from middle. The species also can be distinguished by the male genitalia with the uncus shortened and broadened, while it is narrowly elongated in M. ankasokella . Spinose zones on dorsal surface of the abdominal segments II–V are triangularly developed, but very rare in the segment I and not in the segment VIII (Fig. 8E).

Male genitalia (Figs. 8C, D): Uncus shortened, slightly broadened distally, truncate on caudal margin. Valva elongate, broad at base; cucullus about 1.5 times length of basal part of valva; costa slightly upturned with round apex; ventral margin with distinct emargination basally, lower corner slightly angled. Juxta with short, digitate caudal lobes. Aedeagus shorter than valva, strongly bent near base on ventral margin, with cornuti consisting of lows of spinules.

Distribution. Madagascar (East) (Viette, 1988).
