Chrysis speciosa Radoszkowski, 1877
(Plate 7A–D)
Chrysis speciosa Radoszkowski 1877: 17 .
Type locality: Uzbekistan: “Habitat in deserto prope Taschkent”, [collected on the 19th of May 1871 in steppe between Syr-Darya and Tashkent].
Lectotype, ♂: 19. <printed on pink label with red line> // Степъ м. С. д. и Т [steppe b[between] S[Syr] D[Darya] and T.[Tashkent]] <printed> // Chrysis speciosa Rad. <handwritten red label> // 19.V.1871 <handwritten by Antropov>.
Remarks. Lectotype designated by Bohart (in Kimsey & Bohart 1991: 464). The type is kept together with another specimen labelled as C. speciosa by Radoszkowski. The latter does not belong to the type series and bears the following labels: 1. <printed on green-blue label> // Заравш. дол [Zaravsh. valley] <printed> // speciosa <handwritten by Radoszkowski> // Chrysis speciosa Rad. <handwritten red label> // 1.VI.1869 // Not a type of speciosa <handwritten by Bohart>. This specimen belongs to a different species-group, C. comparata group, and it is very likely a male of C. marginata Mocsáry, 1889 .
After type examination (Rosa et al. 2015), C. fulvicornis Mocsáry, 1889 is found to be the junior synonym of C. speciosa Radoszkowski, 1877 . The name C. fulvicornis is currently in use, but the reversal of precedence is not possible because the conditions listed by the Code (ICZN 1999: Article 23.9.1) are not applicable in this case. It belongs to the C. maculicornis species-group.
Current status. Chrysis speciosa Radoszkowski, 1877 .
