Holopyga Bogdanovii Radoszkowski 1877: 5 .

Type locality: "Habitat in valle Sarafshan", [This male was collected on the 11th of May 1869 at Zaravshan Valley]. Holotype, ♂: 11. <printed on pink label> // Заравш. дол [Zarafsh. valley] <printed> // Holopyga bogdanovii Rad. <handwritten red label>.

Remarks. The species was traditionally included in the genus Omalus s. str. (Linsenmaier, 1959, 1968) or in the genus Pseudomalus Ashmead (Kimsey & Bohart 1991; Strumia 1995). In Kimsey & Bohart (1991), H. bogdanovii is included both in the genus Holopyga Dahlbom (p. 229) and Pseudomalus (p. 266). It was transferred to the genus Philoctetes Abeille de Perrin by Rosa (2005). The correct spelling of the name is bogdanovii and not bogdanowii or bogdanovi as often found in publications (e.g. Trautmann 1926; Kimsey & Bohart 1991).

Current status. Philoctetes bogdanovii (Radoszkowski, 1877) (transferred to Philoctetes Abeille de Perrin by Rosa 2005: 14).
