Current status. Junior synonym (syn. nov.) of Celonites tristiculus Kostylev, 1935 .

Remarks. Kostylev (1935) indicated that there were 21 females and one male of this subspecies collected in Karatau, in the vicinity of Djulek, but there are actually 25 females and one male with his identification labels. All of them can be considered belonging to the type series according to Art. 72.4.1.1 of ICZN (1999). There are no differences between C. tristiculus tristiculus and C. tristiculus karatauicus besides the coloration. The latter subspecies has a slightly more extended pattern of light color. However, there are specimens from Kazakhstan with even less extensive light coloration compared to the holotype of C. tristiculus from Uzbekistan (Fateryga, in preparation). Male genitalia of the darkest form from Kazakhstan were compared with those of the male paratype of C. tristiculus karatauicus and no differences were revealed. Therefore, C. tristiculus karatauicus is synonymized here with C. tristiculus .
