Remarks. Kostylev (1935) did not indicate any material examined. Twenty-five females and two males with his identification labels belong to the type series according to Art. 74.1.3 of ICZN (1999). The taxonomic status of the subspecies Celonites foveolatus nigrior Richards, 1962 described from Israel and Palestine requires a special study; it may represent a distinct species because it has a smaller size (Richards 1962).
