Current status. Junior synonym (syn. nov.) of Celonites octoannulatus (Kuznetzov, 1923) .

Remarks. Kostylev (1940) reported both the female and the male collected in Ruydasht on 22.VII.1937 by V. Gussakovskij as the “type”; the female specimen is designated here as the lectotype. The lectotype is lacking the right flagellum of antenna. There are no differences between C. octoannulatus octoannulatus and C. octoannulatus hissaricus besides the coloration. The latter subspecies has a less rich yellow pattern and a darker flagellum. A similar variability in the coloration of the flagellum is observed in other species (e.g., in C. kozlovi, see Fateryga et al. 2023a). Male genitalia of both subspecies were also examined and no differences were revealed. Therefore, C. octoannulatus hissaricus is synonymized here with C. octoannulatus .
