Current status. Valid as Celonites biinterruptus Kostylev, 1940, stat. nov.

Remarks. Kostylev (1940) reported a female and a male collected in Ruydasht on 22.VII.1937 by V. Gussakovskij as the “ type ” but there are actually two females and a male with Kostylev’s identification labels. All of them can be considered belonging to the type series according to Art. 72.4.1.1 of ICZN (1999). Celonites biinterruptus is clearly a species distinct from C. modestus . The former one has a smaller size in the female sex (the male of C. modestus is unknown and therefore not compared with C. biinterruptus), a more distinct microsculpture between macropunctures on the frons, more distinct macropunctures on the scutum and scutellum, which do not form longitudinal rows ( C. modestus has macropunctures, which form longitudinal rows on the scutum and scutellum, and those on the scutellum are smoothened), and a very distinct color pattern (particularly, metasomal terga have twice-interrupted whitish apical bands, with ferruginous margins, while these band are not interrupted and uniformly yellow in C. modestus).
