Prolygus loriae (Poppius, 1914)
(Fig. 47)
Prolygus loriae Poppius, 1914: 352 (original description). Prolygus loriae: CARVALHO (1987):145 (new combination, redescription).
Distribution. Papua New Guinea (CARVALHO 1987).
Comments. Carvalho’s redescription and illustrations (CARVALHO 1987) suggest that this species is doubtlessly a member of Prolygus and in all likelihood appears to be a sister taxon of P. papuanus; each species has two distinct, elongate lobal sclerites on the endosoma. Based on an image of the holotype male taken by the second author in 1986 (Fig. 47, ZMUF), P. loriae is distinct in having the pale, rather polished dorsum with largely darkened scutellum and posterior half of corium.
