(4) Heterocypris incongruens (Ramdohr, 1808)

and Cypris incongruens var. balatonica Daday, 1894 syn. nov.

The var. balatonica of H. incongruens was described by Daday (1894, 1897; as Cypris incongruens var. balatonica n. var.) from Lake Balaton in Hungary. G.W. Müller (1912) mentioned the variety with a “?” in the list of synonyms of Cyprinotus incongruens . To our best of knowledge, Daday’s variety was not considered in any subsequent publication, the synopsis of Hungarian ostracods by Farkas (1958) included. We here consider the var. balatonica to rank within the variability range of the species H. incongruens .
