(4) Neglecandona iliensis (Mandelstam, 1962) comb. nov.

Candona iliensis was first described from fossil material collected from Pliocene sediments in Turkmenistan (Mandelstam 1962). It was subsequently reported from both late Neogene and Pleistocene sediments in Turkey and central Asia (e.g., Freels 1980; Schornikov 2007; Özuluğ et al. 2018). Semenova (2007) mentioned the species from eastern Europe and provided drawings of the appendages, thus demonstrating that the species is a member of the extant fauna. The latter author’s drawings, mainly of the structure of the hemipenis, clearly show that the species belongs to the genus Neglecandona Krstić, 2006 to which it is here formally transferred: Neglecandona iliensis (Mandelstam, 1962) comb. nov.
