Allactaea lithostrota Williams, 1974
Allactaea lithostrota Williams, 1974: 19–24, figs. 1–3.
Material examined. None.
Distribution. WesternAtlantic—Bermuda, USA (North Carolina, Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Venezuela, Antilles, Suriname, and Brazil (Sergipe, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul) (Williams 1984; Abele & Kim 1986; Melo 1996, 1998, 2008; Souza 1997; Serejo et al. 2006; Felder et al. 2009; Boos et al. 2012; Mendonça et al. 2019).
Remarks. The recent record to Brazil (Felder et al. 2009; Boos et al. 2012) cited Melo (1996, 1998), which assumed a continuous distribution (Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul) without analyzed material. Four samples from 7 to 27m deep were collected in Rio de Janeiro (Melo 2008), in addition to other four animals from Rio Grande do Sul (Souza 1997). The occurrence in the state of Santa Catarina was considered by extension of records previously mentioned in publications (Boos et al. 2012). We suggest that the existence in São Paulo, which is close to these states, is probable. This species is found between 60 and 640 m (Melo 2008), being difficult to sample.
