Teleophrys pococki Rathbun, 1924: 5 .
Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♂, CCDB 6443, Ubatuba, Praia do Itaguá, coll I. Leone, 01.ix.2011 ; 1 ♂, CCDB 5272, Ubatuba, Ilha Vitória, colls. F. Mantelatto et al., 20.x.2012 .
Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (Louisiana), Bahamas, Curaçao, Honduras, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia, São Paulo) (Rathbun 1924, 1925; Coelho & Ramos 1972; Fauto-Filho 1974; Vélez 1977; Garth 1978; Gouvêa 1986; Coelho & Ramos-Porto 1995; Melo 1996; Santos & Coelho 1997; Cruz-Castaño & Campos 2003; López & Solano 2005; Coelho et al. 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Alves et al. 2012c; Nogueira et al. 2015; Hayes et al. 2016; Vera-Caripe et al. 2017).
Remarks. This is the first record on the coast of São Paulo state. For the same sampled Island, Alves et al. (2012a) obtained T. ornatus, which can be found together with T. pococki in infralittoral to 40 m, under rocks on beaches, and on corals and sponges, on rocky or hard bottoms (Coelho & Ramos-Porto 1995; Melo 1998; Coelho et al. 2008). The obtained sequence was compared with the GenBank database and revealed a previous misidentification as T. ornatus (Mantelatto et al. 2018a) . Herein the specimens morphology was double checked and they can be differentiated from T. ornatus by the wider and smoothie carapace, rostrum without a conspicuous sinus and pereopods with crests only on the dorsal surface (Rathbun 1925; Melo 1996). This species was recorded in Brazil as Mithrax (Teleophrys) cristulipes and Teleophrys cristulipes (see Coelho et al. 2008 for references). Sequence accession number (GenBank): CCDB 5272—16S (MT075943) (present study).
