Omalacantha antillensis (Rathbun, 1920)
Microphrys antillensis Rathbun, 1920: 24 .
Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 4 j, CCDB 3616, Ubatuba, offshore, coll. D. Rosa, 05.ix.2011 .
Distribution. WesternAtlantic—USA (North Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico),Antilles, and Brazil (Abrolhos, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo) (Melo 1996; Young & Serejo 2005; Almeida & Coelho 2008; Coelho et al. 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Camargo et al. 2010).
Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo include Ubatuba (Alves et al. 2013b) and Ilha Vitória (Camargo et al. 2010; Alves et al. 2012a). This species previously belonged to the genus Microphrys H. Milne Edwards, 1851 and was assigned to the new valid genus Omalacantha Windsor & Felder, 2014 (Windsor & Felder 2014). Considering the few samples, we cannot discard identification error. However, the collection method at 35m by trawl along with the small size of the individuals can make it difficult to separate samples.
