Schmidt, 1897: 295; Bickhardt, 1917: 115; Cooman, 1941: 292; Mazur, 1984: 131 (catalogue); 1997: 179 (catalogue); Ôhara, 1994: 193; Löbl & Smetana, 2004: 74 (catalogue). Type species: Paromalus leo Marseul, 1879: 272 . Designated by Bickhardt, 1917: 115.
Remarks. The genus Pachylomalus was erected by Schmidt (1897) for the five species separated from the genus Paromalus . Thereafter, eight additional species were described (Lewis 1904, 1914; Bickhardt 1914; Cooman 1932, 1933, 1938). Thus, the genus Pachylomalus includes 13 species worldwide. The species of this genus live under stones (Bickhardt 1917); some species also live in dead wood. Zoogeographically, they are distributed mainly in the Oriental Region. The genus is subdivided into two subgenera; only one species of the subgenus Canidius Cooman, 1941 has been reported from China previously (Lewis 1915). Here, we report the occurrence of another species of this subgenus in China.
