Discussion .
The name Planorbis discoideus as established by Pavlović (1903) represents a primary homonym of Planorbis discoideus Hilgendorf, 1867. The latter species is a member of the Gyraulus species flock in the Middle Miocene Lake Steinheim and is presently considered a junior synonym of Gyraulus sulcatus by Rasser (2013). From the rather character-poor shell it is impossible to reliably attribute Pavlović's species to Planorbis or Gyraulus . Here we follow the taxonomic decision of Wenz (1923c) to place it in Gyraulus .
