Type locality. Gauss station (Davis Sea), 385 m depth.

Bathymetric distribution. 4–640 m.

Substrate. Soft bottom.

Geographical distribution. ANTARCTICA: Circum-Antarctic. SUBANTARCTICA: -. SCOTIA ARC: South Sandwich Islands, South Orkney Islands, South Shetland Islands. SOUTH AMERICA: -.

Remarks. Although our specimen is badly damaged, the typical features of the species, a wing-shaped mouth opening is clearly visible. We found one specimen in 40 m depth. Antarctophiline alata has already been observed in previous studies in Maxwell Bay in depths between 5 and 20 m.
