Hydropsyche simulata Mosely 1942
(Figs. 9–11, 15)
Description. The larva of this species was described by Zhou (2007) in detail. In this study we present only the characteristic photos for diagnostic purposes (Figs. 9–11, 15).
Diagnosis. The cephalic color patterns of H. simulata is very similar to those of H. yaeyamensis (Kawai & Tanida 2005), but H. simulata can be distinguished from the latter in that (1) the yellow stripe along the anterior margin of the frontoclypeal apotome is about as long as the anterior margin in H. simulata, but it is shorter and more concave than the anterior margin in H. yaeyamensis; (2) the three triangular yellow marks in the middle of the frontoclypeal apotome are close to each other in H. simulata, but they are separated from each other widely in H. yaeyamensis; (3) the median indentation of the submentum in H. simulata is deeper and wider than in H. yaeyamensis; and (4) the posterior prosternal sclerites are sub-triangular in H. simulata, but they are subrectangular in H. yaeyamensis .
