Dasyatis cf. akajei

Type locality: southwestern coast of Japan.

The five Taiwanese specimens of D. cf. akajei form a clearly distinct lineage within the diverse clade of Dasyatidae (Supplementary Material 1). The conspecificty of Taiwanese and Japanese forms is questionable and is presently being evaluated.
