Material examined. Rif: Tetouan, Martil v.: Sidi Brahim Ben Arrif spr, Bab Hachef-Aissa, 500 m, 27.04.2013, 1 male (ERR); Tisgris r., 580 m, 23.11.1999, 26L, 10.03.2006, 1 male, 1 female (ELA). Chefchaouen, Laou v.: Ouara Ikadjiouène r., 680 m, 08.06.2013, 1 male, 2 female (ERR).

Distribution (Fig. 9). A Palearctic species with wide distribution in Europe and North-Africa (Zwick 1984b). In North Africa, it is reported from Tunisia (Berthélemy 1973) and Algeria (Lounaci & Vinçon 2005). In Morocco its distribution includes the Rif (Sánchez-Ortega & Azzouz 1998, Errochdi et al. 2014), Middle Atlas and High Atlas (Vinçon et al. 2014).

Ecology. Larvae are rheophilic, orophilic and occur in mountain brooks and torrents between 900 and 1700 m (Consiglio 1979). The larvae inhabit sandy substrates (Brittain & Saltveit 1996). They are mainly detritivorous (López-Rodríguez & Tierno de Figueroa 2008) and can be characterised as gather-collectors (Cummins & Merritt 1996). The adults emerge in winter and early spring (I–IV).
