Afroperlodes lecerfi (Navás, 1929)

Material examined. Rif: Tetouan, Martil v.: Hamma r., Bou Anan spr., 400 m, 21.03.1997, 3L (ELA). High Atlas: Marrakech, Tensift v.: Tiferguine r., 2500–2650 m, 02.06.2004, 1 male, 2 female, 19L; Ourika r., Anfli, 12.09.2003, 1700 m, 7L (ABD).

Distribution (Fig. 1). A North African endemic present in Morocco, Algeria (Lounaci & Vinçon 2005) and Tunisia (Berthélemy 1973, sub. nom. Hemimelaena flaviventris) (Berthélemy in litt. and G. Vinçon observations). In Morocco, the species has been recorded in several localities in the High Atlas ranging between 1000 and 2650 m a.s.l., but also in the Rif between 400 and 1700 m.

Ecology. An orophilic species occurring in mountain brooks and torrents between 450 and 2150 m. Adults emerge during spring between May and June (Sánchez-Ortega & Azzouz 1998).
