Tribe Carinetini Distant, 1905b

Carinetaria Distant 1905b: 483.

Type genus. Carineta Amyot & Audinet-Serville 1843: 482 .

Diagnosis. Species of Carinetini are characterized by a pronotum that is distinctly narrowed anteriorly, lateral pronotal margins that are obliquely angled, a mesonotum that is longer than the pronotum, a robust body that narrows both anteriorly and posteriorly, usually hyaline wings with heavy infuscation found in only a few species, and male claspers and basal lobe appendages that can be elaborate in some genera (Distant 1905b; Marshall et al. 2018). A revision of the tribal characteristics would be useful as the defining characters are becoming less reliable with the addition of new genera and species.
