Fidicinoides pronoe (Walker, 1850)

Cicada pronoe Walker 1850: 144 (Unknown collection locality).

Diagnosis. The species can be distinguished quickly from Fidicinoides descampsi by the hyaline fore wings. The other representative of the genus currently known from the Lesser Antilles has highly infuscated wings.

Distribution. The species has been reported from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago, and Venezuela (Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Dorval et al. 2011; Maccagnan & Martinelli 2011; Sanborn & Maes 2012; Maes et al. 2012; Sanborn 2013; 2014; 2018; 2020a, b, c). Distant (1881a), Jacobi (1907), and Sanborn (2007a, b; 2010; 2018; 2020a) report the species from Trinidad but without specific locality data.
