Tribe Oncotympanini

Remarks. The genus Oncotympana Stål, 1870 has been placed in the tribe Oncotympanini (e.g., Ishihara 1961; Lee 2010), but this genus seems allied to the genus Cicada Linnaeus, the type genus of the subtribe Cicadina of the tribe Cicadini, considering the hyaline wings, the normality of the wing venation, the smallsized male opercula and the semi-opaque male abdominal sternites. Detailed phylogenetic studies are needed to confirm the correct tribal placement of Oncotympana .
