Carpophilus deceptor Sharp

Carpophilus deceptor Sharp 1889: 303

Two specimens, one male and one female, are glued to a single card mount with data corresponding to the original description and a small label reading “Type” that was added by the NHM. Sharp used the single male for the description and added that the only other specimen he saw was a female and also from Mexico. We here designate the male specimen as the lectotype and the female specimen as the paralectotype. Labels for the designated specimens read: “ Guatemala / City/Champion” “B.C.A. Col. II. 1. / Carpophilus /deceptor/Sharp” “Type”. A red label is added to the male specimen with the following text: “ LECTOTYPE / Carpophilus deceptor Sharp /Desig. By/Powell and Martin 2019”. A label is added to the female specimen with the following text: “ PARALECTOTYPE / Carpophilus deceptor Sharp /Desig. By/Powell and Martin 2019”.
