Nitops crassus (Sharp)
Carpophilus crassus Sharp 1889: 297
Two specimens, one male and one female, were found with corresponding data matching the original description which referred to “one pair”. A small label reading “Type” was added to the male specimen by the NHM. We here designate the male specimen as the lectotype and female specimen as the paralectotype. Labels for the designated male specimen read: “Type” “Cordova” “ Mexico./Salle Coll.” “B.C.A. Col. II (1)./ Carpophilus ”. A red label is added with the following text: “ LECTOTYPE / Carpophilus crassus Sharp /Desig. By/Powell and Martin 2019”. For the female, labels read: “Cordova” “ Mexico./Salle Coll.” “B.C.A. Col. II. 1. / Carpophilus /crassus,/Sharp” “Type”. A label is added with the following text: “ PARALECTOTYPE / Carpophilus crassus Sharp /Desig. By/Powell and Martin 2019”.
