Habitat/Ecology. This species is found exclusively in mangroves in Singapore. Nests were usually found in abandoned Thalassina (mud lobster) mounds, sometimes well above maximum tide levels. Nests have also been reported from soil mounds among roots of uprooted trees. Workers were often observed foraging on mud and debris in close proximity to mangrove back forests during low tide.

Remarks. Type locality in Singapore.
