Etymology: Ferrum, Latin noun, iron; equus, Latin noun, horse; therion, Latin noun, beast. In reference to the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks below the Trainspotting locality.
Occurrence: Earliest Tiffanian (Ti1, Late Palaeocene) of south-western Alberta, Canada.
Diagnosis: As for the type species by monotypy.
