Diagnosis

Clypeo-frontal carinae not elevated at each side. In fronto-lateral view, the apex of the tubercle exceeds half the projection of the pronotum. Anterior part of the pronotum with a pair of longitudinal structures, not connected at base (Figure 3 (f)).

Type material. The type series are deposited at the MNHN which made photos available for analysis. As all the specimens correspond to the syntypes, we here designate a lectotype.

Redescription

Body size: Length: 6.96 mm. Width: 5.55 mm. Head: Clypeus as wide as it is long; rugose surface and setae randomly distributed in the dorsal region, in addition to ventral setae; clypeal-frontal carina not elevated at each side. Frons presents interocular tubercles that are interconnected with the lateral carina of the clypeus; transversal carina between the tubercles; flat anterior region, pale and with some setae, except in the median area. Pronotum: pronotum mesoanteriorly with a pair of longitudinal structures not connected at base and lateral regions of the structures excavated. Disc sides with points, unevenly distributed. Points concentrated in the lateral region of the structures.

Type designation proposal. Bolbapium baeri was described based on a series type; the author did not mention how many specimens there were and did not designate the holotype. Currently the types are deposited at the MNHN and have been examined via photographs. We therefore propose the designation of the lectotype for the species to ensure the fixation of the specific name in the best available specimen, in terms of good condition and development of any diagnostic characters subject to allometry.

Differential diagnosis. Bolbapium baeri is morphologically similar to B. furtadoi sp. nov., B. limeirai sp. nov., B. luederwaldti sp. nov., B. minutum and B. quadrispinosum in presenting the forehead with a transverse carina interconnected by tubercles. However, it is easily differentiated from the other species because it has extremely long forehead tubercles, and by the type of structures in the anterior region of the pronotum, which are longitudinal projections.

Geographical distribution. Peru (Piura).

Non-type material. 1 specimen examined.
