Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: 3 specimens MHNG INVE 51736 (ex MHNG 1098/38) (figured herein, Fig. 13A – C); 1098/38/1: 53.5 mm; 1098/38/2: 52 mm; 1098/38/3: 48.6 mm. Locality on the label: Europe .

Remarks: Size and color pattern of the MHNG specimens do not match Lamarck’s description, nor his or Kiener’s figures. It seems doubtful that these specimens belong to Lamarck’s original material.

Current taxonomic position: Pisania pusio (Linnaeus, 1758); placed in synonymy with Pisania pusio [ Buccinidae] by Tryon (1881): 234. Locality is the Caribbean.
