Type locality: l’Océan des Antilles, près de la Guadeloupe.
Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: 4 specimens, among them 3 probable syntypes, MHNG INVE 51734 (ex MHNG 1098/36) (figured herein, Fig. 9A – D); 1098/36/1: 21.5 mm; three other specimens not distinguished by a secondary number: 20.4 mm, 18.7 mm, 16.3 mm, (base truncated). Kiener probably illustrated one of Lamarck’s specimens. No locality given on the label.
Remarks: According to Rosalie de Lamarck, her father’s collection contained three specimens.
Current taxonomic position: Fusinus maroccensis (Gmelin, 1791); placed in synonymy with Fusinus maroccensis by Lamarck (1822): 131. This species is often placed in the genus Sinistralia, a synonym of Fusinus . Locality is northwest Africa and the Canary Islands.
