Type locality: not stated.

Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: holotype MHNG INVE 51710 (ex MHNG 1098/12) (figured herein, Fig. 10A), 14.5 cm. There are faded remains of handwritten inscriptions (by Lamarck?) inside the aperture of the shell. This specimen is figured in the Tableau, but is not the one subsequently figured by Kiener. Locality on the label: Mer Rouge .

Remarks: According to Rosalie de Lamarck, her father’s collection contained just one specimen. Kiener probably figured another specimen from the Paris Museum.

Current taxonomic position: Fusinus ansatus (Gmelin, 1791); placed in synonymy with Fusinus ansatus by Hadorn and Rogers (2000): 10. Locality is the Caribbean.
