Distribution. This species was previously recorded from Saudi Arabia by Dawah & Abdullah (2006). The species was described from Sudan and also recorded from the Afrotropical Region: Ethiopia, Oman, Sudan and United Arab Emirates; Palaearctic Region: Egypt, Israel and Oriental Region: China (Hong Kong), India, Laos, Philippines. There are specimens of A. biroi in NMWC collected from Northern Nigeria (Lake Chad and Bauchi) and Oman.
Biology. In Oman this species was found on stranded and dying vegetation especially around drying waterways and on debris at the water’s edge on Lake Chad (Dr. J.C. Deeming; pers. comm.).
