Material examined. Khorasan-e Shomali: Golestan park, 150 km W. Bojnurd, vii.2007, leg. Linnavuori, 1♂, 1♀ (NMWC). Mazandaran: Hassanabad, vii.1995, leg. Linnavuori, 1♂, 1♀ (NMWC).
Distribution and habitat. The species is mostly associated with Salix species but according to Moosavi & Sadeghi Namaghi 2012), the species has also been found on sugar beet. It is recorded from Europe to Northern Africa, Iran (North and Northeast, fig. 21), Central and Northern Asia. The species is suggested as a potential vector for the bacterium X. fastidiosa, which infests olive trees in Europe (European Food Safety Authority 2013).
