Hebrus eckerleini (Jordan, 1954)
(Fig. 65)
Naeogeus eckerleini Jordan, 1954: 601 . Holotype: ♂, France, Digne, Champ du Bés (ZMHB) .
Distribution (Fig. 65). Europe: France: Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (Jordan 1954, Poisson 1957a), Italy: Calabria (Bertrand 1958, Servadei 1967).
Comments. Jordan (1954) described the species based on the holotype (‘ Type’) deposited in his private collection, and an unspecified number of paratypes (‘ Cotypen’) deposited in Eckerlein’s private collection and in SDEI (1 Ƌ 1 ♀; actually 2 ♀ — D. Rédei, pers. comm.). Andersen (1995) indicated the depository of the holotype as? ZSMC, but according to the collection list (Anonymus 2016) no type of H. eckerleini is deposited in ZSMC . The Jordan Collection is deposited in ZMHB, including the male holotype of H. eckerleini (J. Deckert, pers. comm.).
This taxon has not been recorded since the 1950s and Tamanini (1979) expressed his doubts about the validity of the species, which may be a synonym of H. montanus or H. pusillus pusillus . Theoretically, Hebrus sericeus A. Costa, 1864, described from environs of Benevento in southern Italy and considered a synonym of H. pusillus pusillus, may be the senior synonym of this taxon. This taxon is in urgent need of revision.
