Munida irrasa A. Milne-Edwards, 1880

Munida irrasa A. Milne-Edwards, 1880: 49 .

Material examined. None.

Distribution. Western Atlantic— USA (North Carolina, South Carolina), Gulf of Mexico, Bahamas, Cuba, Cay Sal Banks, Lesser Antilles (St. Croix, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Barbados, Grenadines, Grenada), Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Maranhão, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul), Uruguay (Williams 1984; Melo-Filho & Melo 2001b; Melo-Filho 2006; Coelho et al. 2007; Spivak et al. 2019).

Remarks. We found some material from São Paulo deposited in the MZUSP collection (1 ♀ ov, MZUSP 11075, Ubatuba, N.Oc. “Prof. W. Besnard”, st. 5120, 23°25ʹS – 27°20ʹS, 134 m, 12.x.1989; 4 ♂, 2 ♀, MZUSP 16315, Projeto MBT, st. 142, 23°46ʹS / 043°00ʹW, 150 m, 02.ix.1970). Munida irrasa is found between 38 and 468 m depth (Melo-Filho & Melo 2001b; Melo-Filho 2006). Williams (1984) cited the occurrence from 14 to 475 m depth. In the offshore area of Ubatuba this species is registered at 100 m depth (De Leó & Pires-Vanin 2006). The record in Uruguay is dubious (Spivak et al. 2019). Despite our effort, we were not able to generate sequences from the MZUSP material, probably due to previous fixation in formalin.
