Remarks: Chloroscombrus chrysurus, synonymized with Scomber chrysurus (Linnaeus), was commonly encountered in Badagry and Epe, and occasionally observed in Ikorodu. This species is widely distributed in marine and brackish waters of the Eastern and Western Atlantic. Chloroscombrus chrysurus is characterized by its oval, deep, and highly compressed body. The snout is short and bluntly pointed, with a small eye. A distinctive black saddle mark is present on the upper part of the caudal peduncle. The body is notably compressed, with the ventral profile being more convex than the dorsal profile.
