Remarks: Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus is distributed across coastal rivers from Senegal to Angola. During the study, it was a common catch in the Badagry and Ikorodu regions of NLL. This species is characterized by its large mouth, prominent eyes, and four pairs of small barbels. It also features a deeply forked caudal fin, two dorsal spines, and six dorsal soft rays, making it easily identifiable within its range. Other synonyms for this species include Arius acutivelis (Valenciennes), Chrysichthys acutirostris (Günther), Chrysichthys buettikoferi (Steindachner), Chrysichthys büttikoferi (Steindachner), Chrysichthys ogowensis (Günther), and Pimelodus nigrodigitatus (Lacépède) .
