1. Lobelia brasiliensis Vieira & Shepherd (1998: 457) .

Type:— BRAZIL. Distrito Federal: “ Brasília a Taguatinga ”, 12 September 1964, Prance & Silva 59034 (holotype: UB! [0036763], isotypes: K! [K000847641], MO! [1292729], NY! [01006393], P! [02858869], RB! [RB00537988], [RB00537990], S! [17370], U! [U0008156], US! [02715628]) .

Notes:—Vieira (1988) recognized three subspecies for Lobelia organensis based on morphological variation in trichomes, dimensions of the floral structures, and geographic distribution. Her proposal, however, could not be considered validly published, as it was part of her unpublished MSc thesis. The collection Prance & Silva 59034, assigned to the invalidly published L. organensis subsp. brasiliensis (Vieira 1988), was later used as the type of the newly described species L. brasiliensis (Vieira & Shepherd 1998). The isotype cited as kept at M in the protologue was not found.
