Allodectes Gaud & Berla, 1963
Type-species: Proctophyllodes (Alloptes) norneri Trouessart, 1885
Mites of this genus have well developed dorsal shields and ventral sclerotizations. This genus is characterized by having trochanteral setae sRIII well developed in both sexes, setae ps3 posterior to adanal suckers and lobes secondarily fused in males. They inhabit the quills of hummingbirds ( Trochilidae). Twelve species are currently known: A. norneri (Trouessart, 1885), A. amadoni Park & Atyeo, 1972, A. amaziliae Park & Atyeo, 1972, A. amplissimus Park & Atyeo, 1972, A. bipeltatus Park & Atyeo, 1972, A. elatarcus Park & Atyeo, 1972, A. longisetosus Park & Atyeo, 1972, A. nanus Park & Atyeo, 1972, A. paulicaulus Park & Atyeo, 1972, A. prolaticaulus Park & Atyeo, 1972, A. wetmorei Park & Atyeo, 1972, and A. similis Černý, 1974 .
