Oryx Guérin-Méneville, 1838a (not Oryx Blainville, 1816, Oryx Oken, 1816, Oryx Lesson, 1831, nor Oryx Tournier, 1874). Type species Scarabaeus excavatus Forster, 1771, by subsequent designation of Krell (2006). Synonymy by Harold (1869b).
