Xylotrupes Hope, 1837

[28 species and 22 additional subspecies]. The valid type species fixation is that of Shuckard in Swainson and Shuckard (1840), who selected Scarabaeus centaurus Fabricius,1775,but that species is currently included in the genus Augosoma Burmeister, 1841 . An application to the Commission is necessary to fix Scarabaeus gideon Linnaeus, 1767 as the type species of Xylotrupes Hope, 1837 .
