Geographic distribution. Costa Rica Caribbean, Mexican Caribbean, West Indies, Gulf of Mexico. Habitat. In sandy bottom covered with algae, seagrass, in shallow water.

Remarks. Lang (1973) analysed material from Thailand (Koh Kohdal and Ko Kham) and Myanmar (Rangoon). However, on the basis that cosmopolitan species are improbable in this genus, the specimens recorded as L. forresti from Thailand and Myanmar could be a different species.
