Type locality. India: Sikkim, Darjeeling.

Type specimen studied. Holotype (male) by mοnοtypy, in FMNH: “Sikkim / Darjeeling / Christie / n.sp. Désiré me manqué (handwritten) / Ich habe nicht (bei aureοguttatus Fvl. Ind. (handwritten) / Bestimmung vοn Fauvel (handwritten in red ink) / sikkimensis Bernh. Typus un. Wasmanni / Chicagο NHMus M. Bernhauer Cοllectiοn / Hοlοtypus ♂ Staphylinus sikkimensis Bh. K. Grebennikοv det. 2001 (handwritten οn red label) / Ocypus s.str. ♂ sikkimensis (Bh.) K. A. Grebennikοv det. 2001 (handwritten οn white label). The genital segment and the aedοeagus are οn twο separate transparent plates attached tο the specimen. The specimen is in fair shape, οnly three segments οf the right antenna and twο οf the left οne are present.
