Quadrivisio bengalensis Stebbing, 1907

Material examined. 4 males (9–12 mm), LFSC.ZRC–205, Kalupada Ghat, Chilika Lake, (19°52'27"N 85°24'26"E), Odisha, India, 1 September 2018, coll. D. Thacker.

Description. Based on male (12 mm).

Head. Eyes ommatidia divided into two clusters on each side. Antenna 1 shorter than antenna 2; peduncular article 1 and 2 subequal; article 3 one fifth of the size of article 2; accessory flagellum 9 articulated (Fig. 12: A1). Antenna 2 peduncular article 4 0.77 x of article 5 (Fig. 12: A2). Mandible accessory setal row with 8 setae; molar well developed (Fig. 12: Md). Maxilla 1 inner plate inner margin with simple setae; outer plate with 6 dentate setae apically; palp article 2 with 7 small apical robust setae and 1 simple setae (Fig. 12: Mx1). Maxilla 2 inner plate with simple setae on inner margin and apically; outer plate with simple apical setae (Fig. 12: Mx2). Maxilliped inner plate setose marginally with simple setae and apically with 3 small robust setae; outer plate with 11 robust marginal setae; palp 4 articulated (Fig. 12: Mxp).

Pereon. Gnathopod 1 coxa longer than broad, subrectangular; basis distally expanding with 2 tufts of long setae on posterior margin and few small setae on anterior margin; merus with posterodistal spine; propodus palm straight; dactylus curved, smaller than palm (Fig. 13: G1). Gnathopod 2 coxa longer than broad; basis with few long setae on posterior margin; propodus posterior margin straight, palm transverse with one distal protuberance with 5 small spine, dactylus subequal to palm (Fig. 13: G2).

Pleon. Eprimera 1–3 with a posteroventral corner acutely produced (Figs. 14: Ep1–Ep3). Uropod 1 peduncle subequal to rami (Fig. 14: U1). Uropod 2 peduncle subequal rami (Fig. 14: U2). Uropod 3 peduncle half of the size of subequal leaf like rami (Fig. 14: U3). Telson deeply cleft with 6 apical setae and 8 setae on inner margin on each lobe (Fig. 14: T).

Remarks.

Hitherto two species of genus Quadrivisio Stebbing, 1907 have been reported from India including Q. bengalensis . The specimen described here matches with the description and figures of Q. bengalensis given by Stebbing (1907).
