Vernacular Names: Commerson's Leaf-nosed Bat.
Distribution: Madagascar.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc) (including gigas, vittata, and thomensis, which are now regarded as distinct species).
Discussion: commersoni species group. Does not include gigas, vittatus (including marungensis) or thomensis, which are now recognized as distinct species based on differences in morphology and echolocation calls (J. Fahr and D. Kock, pers. comm.; D. Lunde, pers. comm.; McWilliam, 1982; Pye, 1972). Reviewed by Peterson et al. (1995).
