Description of Erythrobacter litoralis HMF 8222

Cells are Gram-staining-negative, flagellated, non-pigmented, and rod or oval-shaped. Colonies are circular, convex, entire, and orange-colored after 2 days of incubation on MA at 37°C. Positive for esculin hydrolysis, gelatinase, β -galactosidase, and cytochrome oxidase, but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, and urease in the API 20NE test. Adipic acid is utilized, but D-glucose, Larabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetylglucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are not utilized. Strain HMF8222 (= NIBRBAC000498459) was isolated from a solar saltern, Sinan, Jeollanam, Korea.
