Poromya castanea Habe, 1952
(Fig. 3 O, P)
Poromya castanea Habe, 1952: 156 .
Material examined: four specimens from the ocean slope of Iturup Island (274–290 m) .
Distribution: Yellow Sea; Sea of Japan; southern Kuril Islands (100– 1,080 m) (Scarlato 1981; Kantor & Sysoev 2005; Lutaenko & Noseworthy 2012; Kamenev 2013; Okutani & Saito 2014, 2017).
Remarks: This is a new record from the region of the Kuril Islands.
Poromya castanea has a superficial resemblance to Dermatomya mactroides (Dall, 1889) (Coan, Valentich-Scott & Bernard 2000; Coan & Valentich-Scott 2012). However, species belonging to Poromya possess radial rows of fine pustules on their shell surface which are lacking in Dermatomya (Scarlato 1981; Coan, Valentich-Scott & Bernard 2000) (cf. Fig. 3M and O).
